BIDEN VISIT | People slowly coming in to see VP stump for Clinton in Lordstown
LORDSTOWN — People are coming in at a slow pace to hear Vice President Joe Biden speak at the United Auto Workers Local 1714 union hall about 11 a.m. on behalf of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
As of 10:20 a.m., there were about 150 people in the hall.
There were only about a dozen supporters of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Salt Springs Road, outside the union hall.
Among them was Laurencia Canzonetta of Warren, who said Trump “represents what it means to be an American. He worked hard, has morals, he's fighting for what's right despite the challenges he's facing.”
Canzonetta, carrying a sign that read “Hillary for Prison 2016,” said Trump will bring jobs back to America.
When asked about Trump's various products made overseas, Canzonetta said, “The way the government is set up now they make it hard to have products made in America. I feel Trump will bring jobs back to America. He'll give us more specifics during the debates.”
Mark Munroe, chairman of the Mahoning County Republican Party, said, “We don't think Hillary is the right answer for the country. The local union bosses are supporting [Clinton], but we've spoken to so many rank-and-file people who are with Trump.”
