Mount Union 66, Otterbein 7

WESTERVILLE

No. 1 ranked Mount Union bested its own NCAA record winning its 111th consecutive regular season game. The Purple Raiders (8-0, 7-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) are 221-1 in their last 222 games dating to 1994 as they won 110 games from 1994-2005. Freshman quarterback Dom Davis threw for three scores and ran for another as he completed 16-of-19 passes for 208 yards. Tim Kennedy had five catches for 61 yards and a score. Senior running back Dwayne Aaron rushed for a game-high 75 yards on six carries as Mount Union rushed for 319 yards. Senior linebacker Charlie Dear had five tackles, a sack, tackle for loss and a 92-yard return of a blocked field goal for a touchdown to lead a defense that held Otterbein (4-4, 4-3 OAC) quarterback Logan Stepp to 143 yards of total offense. Stepp, who entered the game leading the conference in total offense at 304.5 yards per game, completed 10-of-16 passes for 122 yards with a touchdown and ran for 21 yards on 14 carries.

Carnegie Mellon 35, Westminster 23

PITTSBURGH

Junior Joseph Salmen led the Titans through the air, completing 10 of 16 for 123 yards, a touchdown, and an interception for the Titans (6-2, 4-2 Presidents’ Athletic Conference). Salmen added a touchdown on the ground. Junior Dominique McKinley rushed for a team-high 46 yards and a score, while adding a touchdown reception. Sophomore Bryson Paulinellie had team-highs of seven catches and 87 receiving yards. Mac Quinn led the Titan defense with a game-high 12 tackles, including a sack. Junior CJ Armstrong added a career-high 11 tackles, including a game-high three tackles for a loss and a sack. The Tartans are 5-3, 5-2.

Washington & Jefferson 48, Saint Vincent 26

WASHINGTON, PA.

Washington & Jefferson scored the final 27 points of the game to win its 23rd straight at Cameron Stadium. W&J improves to 7-1 against the Bearcats. Pete Coughlin was held under 200 yards passing for a consecutive game, marking the first time he was kept under that mark in back-to-back games in his three years as the full-time starter. He went 15-of-20 for 189 yards and three scores. He also surpassed 100 rushing yards. Austin Kemp finished with 113 yards on 34 runs for the Presidents (6-2, 4-2 PAC). The Bearcats are 4-4, 2-4.

Baldwin-Wallace 41, OT

BEXLEY

Freshman quarterback Jake Hudson and junior running back Austin Smith each ran for more than 100 yards, but the Baldwin Wallace University football team lost in overtime. BW (2-6, 1-6 OAC) outgained Capital (4-4, 4-3 OAC) by a 485-423 margin, including 290-198 on the ground. Three of four BW turnovers and a blocked field goal led to 28 Crusader points during regulation. Hudson completed 13 of 19 passes for 195 yards. He also ran for a career-high 157 yards in 21 attempts with two TDs. Smith ran for 106 yards in 28 attempts and three TDs. He also caught a team-high three passes for 20 yards. The BW defense was led by junior outside linebacker Sam Groff had a game-high 13 tackles and scored a TD on a “wildcat” QB three-yard run.

John Carroll 31, Muskingum 3

NEW CONCORD

John Carroll football struck from the opening kickoff and never looked back, spoiling Muskingum’s homecoming. The John Carroll special teams unit got things going from the first whistle as Ro Golphin opened the game with a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The Blue Streaks scored 21 more points in the first half. The defense stifled Muskingum on the ground, holding Fighting Muskies rushers to just one net yard on 19 carries. It is the fifth time that an opponent has failed to reach 100 total yards rushing against JCU this season. Muskingum only recorded 117 total yards and did not convert one third down (0-for-13). Jovon Dawson led the way for the Blue Streaks with five tackles (three for loss), and both Dylan Hall and Jimmy Thomas recorded sacks.
