Munnell Run Farm hosts November programs

MERCER, PA.

Munnell Run Farm, 753 Greenville Road, is hosting several public programs in November.

Artist Lauren Sheridan will have a one-session canvas painting event at the farm from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 7.

Participants will paint ornaments on a 12-by-16-inch canvas. No art experience is required and all materials will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own paint brushes.

The cost is $30, and pre-registration and payment is required by Friday by calling 724-662-2242 and asking for Jacqueline or Larissa. Checks can be made payable to: Munnell Run Farm Foundation, 24 Avalon Court, Suite 300, Mercer, PA 16137.

The farm also will host guest artisan Lynn Peterson’s program on two-tiered pie basket weaving from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14.

Participants need to bring a lunch with something to drink as well as scissors and a pencil. All other basket materials will be provided. At the completion of the class, participants will leave with a two-tiered pie basket.

The cost is $25, and pre-registration is requested by Friday by calling the farm.

Mercer County Conservation District will explore the history of the elk in a program entitled “Wapitis of the East” at 6 p.m. Nov. 16 in the farm’s pig barn.

A special guest speaker from the Pennsylvania Game Commission will be present to discuss the history of this species in the state and where it is headed into the future. The night will end with a film.

The program is free, but participants should pre-register by Nov. 10 by calling the farm and again asking for Jacqueline or Larissa.
