Staff report

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, invites the public to discover the importance of citizen science to regional and global research at 2 p.m. next Sunday.

This free, public program will introduce various bird-related projects in which anyone can participate, ranging in time and commitment from one day to a whole year.

Jennings staff will demonstrate online tools for recording, sharing and exploring birding observations.

Participants will learn about bird movements, changes in distribution and population trends that have been revealed by analysis of data submitted by thousands of individual observers.

The program is designed for anyone ages 13 and older who has an interest in birds, whether a beginner or experienced.

Pre-registration is requested, though not required. Register either online at events.dcnr.pa.gov/ or by calling 724-794-6011.
