Six local teams participate in Pymatuning/Shenango Watershed Challenge

MERCER, Pa.

Twenty middle-school teams from Trumbull, Mahoning, Mercer, Crawford and Lawrence counties participated in the Pymatuning/Shenango Watershed Challenge at Munnell Run Farm earlier this month.

Two teams from Champion and the Trumbull Education Association of Christian Schools and two from Lowelville were the Ohio teams.

The students were tested in five categories – aquatics, forestry, soils, watersheds and wildlife.

Each category was presented by natural-resource professionals from the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District, Trout Unlimited, OSU Extension program, Department of Conservation of Natural Resources, Bureau of Forestry and Pennsylvania Game Commission.

The winning team was from Conneaut Lake Middle School.
