What: A half percent, five-year income tax that would raise $3.5 million to $4 million annually to hire police officers, firefighters and to establish a road-maintenance program. Warren currently has a 2 percent income tax rate; it would rise to 2.5 percent if the additional half percent is approved. For a person earning $40,000 per year, the increase would be $200 annually – from $800 per year to $1,000.
City employees: 398.
Employee contribution to health care: 10 percent.
Sample wages: general clerk (water department), $9.48 per hour to start, $15.80 top scale; operations superintendent, $20.66 per hour to start, $34.80 top of scale; police officer, $15.04 to start, $25.06 top of scale.
WARREN CITY SCHOOLS
What: A 5.75-mill, 10-year renewal levy to raise $1.9 million annually.
Cost to owner of a $100,000 home: $201.25 per year.
School district general fund budget: $69,479,000. Total budget: $103,500,000.
School certificated employees, 488; classified employees, 305 for a total of 793.
Sample wages: secretary (working 204 days per year) $10.35 per hour to start, $14.65 per hour at top scale. Associate superintendent (260 days per year), $100,269 to start, $104,340 at top scale. Bachelor’s-degree teacher, $33,252 to start, “Masters Plus 30” at top scale $72,157.
