All Souls Day Mass

LOWELLVILLE

St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, 3900 Villa Marie Road, will celebrate All Souls Day Mass at 2 p.m. Nov. 6 in the cemetery hall. That day is Catholic Cemetery Sunday.

Refreshments will follow.

Ordination service

WARREN

An ordination service for Minister Lisa Parker is scheduled at 5 p.m. Nov. 6 at York Ave. Church of God, 872 York Ave. SW. The speaker will be the Rev. Eric U. Brown Sr., senior pastor.

Minister Parker started the ordination process in 2010. She has been a member of the Church of God all her life and is a member of York Ave Church of God, where she is on the ministerial staff. She is a worship leader, chairwoman of the board of Christian education, a Sunday school teacher, president of the Christian Women’s Connection and vice chairwoman of the trustee board.

Minister Parker completed studies at the C.L. Lane Bible Institute in Transfer, Pa., and graduated from Youngstown State University. She is attending Mid America Christian University and working on a degree in theology.

She is the daughter of Adam and Frances Parker and has three adult children and eight grandchildren.

All Souls services

YOUNGSTOWN

Services are planned Nov. 6, Catholic Cemetery Sunday, for All Souls Day in the chapels of cemeteries in Diocese of Youngstown. Opening prayers will take place at 1:45 p.m. with the services at 2.

Locations are All Souls Cemetery, 3823 Hoagland Blackstub Road, Cortland; Calvary Cemetery, 248 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown; and Resurrection Cemetery, 300 N. Raccoon Road, Austintown.

Family month

WARREN

Alpha and Omega Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1247 Woodland NE, is observing family month during October.

A Bible study is planned at 10 a.m. today with Nikki Cummings, Bible instructor, and Mary Jarred, superintendent of Sabbath School. Special guests will be Dr. Leon Cox, president of Allegheny West Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and LaTanya Cox, who will highlight women in Bible history.

Seminar at church

YOUNGSTOWN

New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., will sponsor its annual seminar on the theme “The Priority of the Kingdom of God” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

Facilitators will be the Rev. James Bowie of Greater Friendship Baptist Church, the Rev. Lewis Macklin of Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and the Rev. Gena Thornton, retired pastor.

Classes are for all ages. Topics include “What is the Kingdom of God?” and “Living as a Kingdom Citizen.” The Rev. Kenneth Simon is host pastor. The event is open to the public.
