Police investigate disappearance of mentally challenged man

Staff report

WARREN

A Trumbull County jail inmate was informed Thursday that his mentally challenged son, 23, has been missing for four days.

Joseph Richardson Jr., 43, was ordered held in the Trumbull County jail Monday without eligibility to make bond after being arraigned on a burglary charge.

His next hearing is Wednesday.

Late Thursday, another son of Richardson’s, Xavier Richardson, 17, called the jail, telling his father that the older son, James Richardson, of Sweetbrier Avenue Southwest, was missing.

Xavier Richardson told Warren police that he and James Richardson were home alone until their dad gets out of jail.

Xavier said he spoke to James on Monday morning before Xavier left for school, and James said he was staying home all day.

James goes to Fairhaven School in Niles Monday through Friday during the day, Xavier said.

The only sighting of James was by someone who saw him in a nearby Warren apartment complex on Tuesday, Xavier said.

James is black, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds.

He has short black hair, police said.
