Swim team sweeps Niagara in dual meet

The Youngstown State swimming and diving team was victorious in all 16 events in a dual against Niagara on Friday at the Beeghly Natatorium. YSU won all 12 individual swimming events, Bec Stafford won both diving events and the Guins took first in both relays. Viktoria Orosz, Zsani Csado and Madison Aranda won multiple events. The Penguins won the dual meet by a score of 171-109.

Women’s soccer earns road draw vs. Phoenix

Allison Green and Marissa Martin scored for YSU, who led Green Bay 2-1, before Green Bay’s Hayley Fowle equalized to for the Penguins to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Green’s goal was assisted from Sophie McFarland and was from the right side and beat the keeper left while Martin’s goal was assisted from Green who tapped it in.

YSU’s record finishes at 3-12-2 overall and 1-7-1 in Horizon League play.

Volleyball team swept at Beeghly by WSU

Wright State swept YSU 25-22, 29-27, 25-22 at Beeghly Center.

Sam Brown led all athletes with 14 kills for YSU (7-18, 1-10) while Sarah Varcolla finished with 12 and Lori Vanbeek finished with 10 kills. Brown had 11 attack errors however.

Katie Klusman led Wright State with 13 kills.
