Home assessment promotion extended
CLEVELAND
Dominion East Ohio is extending its $25 energy assessment promotion until Dec. 31 to help customers prepare their homes for winter, company officials announced.
The energy assessment, available through Dominion’s Home Performance with Energy Star Program, typically costs customers $50, but the value of the assessment is more than $500.
Dominion subsidizes the cost of the energy assessment to help customers diagnose high-utility usage and home-comfort issues and then provides rebates of up to $1,250 to make recommended energy-efficiency improvements.
Customers should call 877-287-3416 to schedule an assessment, or visit deohpwes.com for program details and eligibility.
BMW recalls more than 154K vehicles
DETROIT
BMW is recalling more than 154,000 cars and SUVs in the U.S. and Canada to fix a wiring problem that can cause engines to stall.
The recall covers certain 5-Series and X5 models and some 6-Series and X6 vehicles from the 2007 to 2012 model years.
The company says in documents filed with U.S. safety regulators that wiring to fuel pumps inside the gas tank may not have been properly crimped. That can cause the wires to come loose and melt a connector, causing a gas leak. That can stop the fuel pump from working and make engines stall.
Dealers will replace the fuel pump module at no cost to owners.

Users mourn as Twitter kills Vine
NEW YORK
You can watch any video for six seconds, played on an infinite loop. The funniest ones only get more ridiculous with repetition.
That was the beauty of Vine, the simple, pioneering mobile video app that Twitter has decided to kill off. Its loyal users are mourning its weirdness, humor and creativity-boosting constraints.
