American Association of University Women, Youngstown Branch, will meet at 10 a.m. Nov. 5 at the Newport Library, 3730 Market St., Youngstown. After a continental breakfast and business meeting, Monica Craven, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Mahoning Valley, will speak. Hostesses are Mary Allgood and Mary Ann Allgood. CLUBS

Mahoning Valley Chapter of Polka Dot Powerhouse will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Whitefire Grill, 6580 Ironwood Blvd., Canfield. Guests and members are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes early to create additional connections. Women interested in business connections can attend the first meeting at no cost. Warren Women’s Connection, an affiliate of Stonecroft Ministries, invites all women to attend its Nov. 14 luncheon at DiLucia’s Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road NE. It will feature the annual Country Fair fundraiser consisting of a garage sale, live auction with auctioneeer Marty Campana, basket auction and bake sale. LIBRARY FRIENDS

Poland Library Friends will meet Tuesday at the Poland Library, 311 S. Main St. Coffee hour will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the program and business to follow. Dr. Marcelle Wilson from Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor will present the program. Hostesses are Mary Jane Backus, Susan Beil, Reka Desai and Marion Gillette. Donations of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs are accepted at each meeting for the Poland Friends book cart. The meeting is open to the public. New members are welcome. Dues are $10.

POLITICAL CLUBS

Canfield Republican Women’s Club dinner meeting will be at noon Wednesday at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Dr. Paul Sracic will discuss the electoral college and the current political process. Sracic is a professor and chairman of the Department of Politics and International Relations at Youngstown State University. He also will talk about his Washington Post article that was included in the new book, “The Science of Donald Trump”. Please take canned or boxed food for our annual food drive for Canfield’s Operation Blessing. Enjoy a Thanksgiving lunch with all the trimmings. All are welcome. The cost is $12 per person. Girard Knights of Columbus Men, Council 2935, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the K. of C. Hall, 122 N. State St.

Mothers of the Crucifix Society of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica will meet at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 6. Cathy Zack will preside. Hostesses are Joanne Colaluca, Fran Mortellars, Patti Tirotto and Diane Stubb.

Salvation Army of Mahoning County Women’s Auxiliary will have its regular monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Salvation Army building, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown. Members will discuss their work with the community Thanksgiving dinner and the Christmas Angel Tree tag program. Light refreshments will be served.

Slovak Catholic Federation, Youngstown Chapter, will meet at 1 p.m. Friday in the community meeting room of Newport Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 3730 Market St., Youngstown. Lunch can be purchased at noon in Cafe Augustine. The agenda will include an evaluation of the recent pilgrimage and planning events for next year. The public is welcome.

SUPPORT GROUPS

NAMI Mahoning Valley will offer support groups for those who deal with mental illness. Family support groups, providing information for family members and friends of individuals with mental illness, will be offered the first Thursday of each month in Trumbull County at 11 a.m. at the Girard Library, 105 E. Prospect St., and on the second Tuesday of each month in Mahoning County at 7 p.m. at the Alta Care Group, 142 Javit Court, Austintown. The Connection support group aims to connect individuals who live with mental illness in a structured discussion format. It is limited to adults living with a mental health diagnosis in order to promote self-disclosure in a safe, confidential environment. It is free and open to anyone with a mental health diagnosis. They meet for a day session at 1:30 p.m. each Thursday at the Community Center, 1344 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, and in the evenings at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at the Alta Care.
