Recipe group will host fall tasting event to honor Armed Forces and Veterans Day

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The Recipes of Youngstown group on Facebook, which has 9,000 members, is hosting a fall tasting event to honor Armed Forces and celebrate Veterans Day. The event, “Food from the Homefront” will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown Youngstown. More than 30 family dishes will be prepared by bakers whose recipes are in the “Recipes of Youngstown” cookbook. The event is a joint fundraiser for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society and the Youngstown State University Armed Forces Student Association, which supports emergency needs for veteran students. Admission is free, and tasting tickets are six for $5. Raffle baskets also will be available. Parking is available in the westside lot.
