Head-on crash

WARREN

Two vehicles traveling north and south on Mahoning Avenue Northwest collided head-on near the intersection of Maryland Street Northwest at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, sending several people to the hospital. Warren police investigated the crash. Neither the identities of those involved in the crash nor the severity of their injuries were available Saturday evening, according to the Trumbull County 911 Center.

Bus aide, driver jobs

YOUNGSTOWN

City school officials will conduct open interviews for school bus driver and bus aide positions from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the lower level conference room at school board offices, 20 W. Wood St.

The board will provide free training for new hires and prepare drivers to obtain the necessary commercial driver’s license. These are nine-month positions with weekends, major holidays and the summer off, said Colleen Murphy Penk, transportation director.

Bistro clambake

CANFIELD

Students enrolled in the culinary program at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, will host an annual clambake Friday at the school’s student-run restaurant, The Bistro. This is the first year the event is open to the public. There will be three seatings: 4, 5 and 7 p.m. and the cost is $40 per person.

Anyone who wants to buy tickets may call 330-729-4000, ext. 1506. All proceeds go to the student activity account to promote education in culinary arts.

Part of 62 to be closed

YOUNGSTOWN

U.S. Route 62 eastbound and westbound between South and Himrod avenues will be closed from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday for an overhead sign installation. A detour will be posted.

Crime Watch to meet

POLAND

Beaver Police Department’s Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shepherd of the Valley, 9111 Sharrott Road. Township fire Chief Russ Osborne will discuss local crime statistics. October is national Fire Prevention Month.

Zona lecture at Thiel

Greenville, Pa.

Louis Zona, executive director of the Butler Institute of American Art, will present “Treasures of American Art: Thoughts on the Collection of The Butler Institute of American Art” at Thiel College at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lutheran Heritage Room of the Howard Miller Student Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Austintown OSCARs

AUSTINTOWN

Austintown Elementary and Intermediate schools and Fitch High School were recently awarded OSCARs – Ohio School Counselor Accountability Reports – by the counselor association. The OSCAR is a results-based representation of how student outcomes are facilitated by school counselors. All recipients will be awarded Nov. 3 at the All Ohio Counselors Conference in Columbus.
