Youth band to present concert at Stambaugh

The Stambaugh Youth Concert Band will present its annual fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Stambaugh Auditorium.

Tickets are $5 ($2 for students and seniors) and are available at the box office, 1000 Fifth Ave.; by phone at 330-259-0555; and at stambaughauditorium.com. The box office is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

The concert program will include “Russian Christmas Music” by Alfred Reed; “Wayfaring Stranger,” Christopher Nelson; “Joy Revisited,” Frank Ticheli; selections from “The Danserye,” Tielman Susato and Patrick Dunnigan; and “The Footlifer,” Henry Filmore.

The SYCB is composed of the top high school musicians from Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, and is under the direction of John Veneskey and Brandt Payne, and percussion instructor Tyler Husosky.

The band rehearses weekly at Stambaugh Auditorium from September through April and presents two concerts per year.

The spring concert traditionally features senior soloists, who are chosen through an audition process, and awards the Barbara Armstrong Memorial Youth Band Scholarship to a senior musician.
