Officials laud Boardman schools

Boardman Board of Education recognized Robinwood Lane and West Boulevard elementary schools Thursday night for being named outstanding schools by the state school boards association.

Robinwood principal Don Robinson and West principal Al Cervello received certificates of recognition from the association’s Northeast Regional Manager Reno Contipelli.

In other business, the board approved transfer of $326,000 into the permanent improvement fund and increased the limit of the agency fund from $1,000 to $100,000 to hold future deposits to pay for hosting various sporting tournaments.

The fund has no money now, but schools Superintendent Tim Saxton said it will hold tournament gate receipts.
