CLEVELAND

A federal grand jury has returned a one-count indictment charging Todd J. Kniseley, aka Todd J. Kniceley, 27, of Youngstown, with failing to register and update a registration as a sex offender as required by law, a U.S. attorney said.

The indictment charges that, beginning at least as early as Oct. 22, 2015, until about Oct. 5, 2016, Kniseley traveled in interstate commerce and knowingly failed to register and update a registration pursuant to the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

The case is being prosecuted by Jason M. Katz, a Youngstown-based assistant U.S. attorney, after an investigation by U.S. marshals.

McNally to appear on Vindy broadcast

YOUNGSTOWN

Mayor John A. McNally will be among the guests on Louie B. Free’s “Brainfood from the Heartland” broadcast on Vindy.com from 8 a.m. to noon today.

Other scheduled guests are Juli Dulay, manager of the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center in Youngstown, and Kermit Roosevelt, great-great-grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt. He is a professor of constitutional law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, a former clerk for Supreme Court Justice David Souter and an award-winning novelist.

Bridge opens

LIBERTY

The new state Route 304 bridge over state Route 11 is open, the Ohio Department of Transportation reported Thursday. This work was part of a $4.8 million project to replace four bridges over state Route 11, Liberty Jones Road, Tibbetts-Wick Road, Anderson Morris Road and state Route 304. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by late July 2017.

Library merger

YOUNGSTOWN

Public meetings on the proposed merger of the Campbell, Struthers and Brownlee Woods public library branches will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at the library system’s East Side Branch, 430 Early Road, and at 6:30 p.m. at the Newport Branch, 3730 Market St.

Representatives of the library system’s consultants, HBM Architects of Cleveland and BSHM Architects Inc. of Youngstown, will conduct the meetings.

Residents are invited to comment on the proposed merger and the types of future library service they’d like to see.

Oles to take over as Mooney president

YOUNGSTOWN

In January, Mark Oles will become president of Cardinal Mooney High School. Oles, a 2001 Mooney graduate, joined Mooney last week and will work with Dan Landers, board chairman who has served since July as the interim president, to allow a transition.

The Rev. Gerald DeLucia left the presidency to return to pastoral work last July.

Oles has a long history of service to his parishes and to Cardinal Mooney High School. For Mooney, Oles created the Jamie Serich Memorial Scholarship, which distributed $94,000 since 2010 to benefit Cardinal Mooney and Lumen Christi students. Oles worked as a quality-assurance manager in Chicago.

Park drives closed for Peace Race

YOUNGSTOWN

These Mill Creek Park drives will be closed to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians from about 7 a.m. until noon Sunday for the Youngstown Peace Race, park officials announced: High, Chestnut Hill, East Park, Valley, West Cohasset, Bears Den, West and West Glacier drives; and Price Road and its entrance to Fellows Riverside Gardens.
