HOWLAND

David Schwartz and Christoper Tvaroch each scored two goals and Matt Seem, Christian Nogay and Christopher Tvaroch had assists as the Tigers beat the Raiders. With his first goal on the night, Schwartz moved past Connor Gilmour to become Howland’s all-time career goal leader. Earlier this season, Schwartz also set Howland’s single-season record. Schwartz currently has 60 career goals, including 31 this season. Fourth-seeded Howland will host Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit in a sectional final at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Dover 4, Austintown Fitch 1

DOVER

Fitch went down in the opening round of the playoffs. Dover was aided by goals from Zack Wilson, A.J. Backer, Noah Randazzo and a Fitch own-goal. Blake Baker scored off an assist from Hunter Klaus. Dover goalie Nathan Rafter and Fitch goalie Trevor Hykes each had five saves.

Evan Rumble and Reed McCreery scored goals and Harrison Walkama stopped six shots in goal as the Bulldogs edged the Golden Flashes in a sectional final. Poland will meet the winner of a Saturday sectional final between Canfield and Salem at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26

DIVISION I

UNIONTOWN

The Spartans (14-1) got 25 kills each from Kaylin Burkey and Haley Blangero and won a five-set match and a sectional title. Burkey had 15 digs and four aces and Blangero had 19 digs, while Ashley Clark had 42 assists, 18 digs, six kills and three blocks. Boardman will meet Massillon Jackson in a district semifinal at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

DIVISION II

Marlington 25-10-25-25, West Branch 16-25-23-13

BELOIT

Elise Wallace scored eight points and dished 28 assists as West Branch (18-6) saw its season come to a close in the Division II sectional play. Natalie Zuchowski spiked 15 kills and had four blocks. Delany Rito and Whitney Wallace each had 13 digs. No stats were reported for Marlington.

DIVISION IV

Mathews 25-25-20-25, Maplewood 16-12-25-23

CORTLAND

Sadie Bartok put up 13 kills, five blocks and five aces for the Mustangs. Morgan Williams had 12 kills and 12 service points and Katarina Schubert had 22 digs and 38 assists. No stats were reported for Maplewood. Mathews will meet Ashtabula St. John in a district semifinal at 5 p.m. on Monday at Lakeview High School.

Southern 25-25-23-25, Rootstown 17-9-25-18

COLUMBIANA

Lizzie Willis had 24 kills and eight points for Southern. Sierra Boyle added 16 points and 16 assists and Hannah Hayes had 22 assists. Miranda Petrick scored 11 points and had nine kills and 12 assists for Rootstown. The Indians return to Columbiana on Tuesday.

Wellsville 21-25-25-25, Jackson-Milton 25-20-17-12

COLUMBIANA

Kiki Perry had 25 kills and four blocks for Wellsville and Kinley Martin added 17 kills. Regan Pierson dished 47 assists. Sierra Huff had 10 kills and 10 blocks for Jackson-Milton. Wellsville plays Southern on Tuesday at Columbiana.

Staff report
