Event for Gorant

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Gorant Chocolatier, 8301 Market St., at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

The ceremony celebrates the business’ recent renovations and its partnership with Hallmark Cards with the opening of a new Hallmark Gold Crown department.

Gorant Chocolatiers was founded by two brothers, Sam and Charles Gorant, in Youngstown in 1949. The current owner, Joseph Miller, purchased Gorant in 2009.

Factory store hours through the holiday season are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. You also can visit Gorant’s Canfield location in the Canfield Westford Commons plaza.

Plans to sell interest

FRANKLIN, TENN.

Community Health Systems Inc., owner of ValleyCare Health System of Ohio, announced Monday that a subsidiary of the company signed a definitive agreement to sell a majority ownership interest in the company’s Home Health division to a subsidiary of Almost Family Inc.

The company has previously announced plans to reduce and refine its overall portfolio with proceeds being used to pay down debt. This transaction is one of the five transactions discussed on the company’s second-quarter 2016 earnings call.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.

Macy’s to open an hour earlier on Thanksgiving

NEW YORK

Macy’s announced Monday it was staying committed to Thanksgiving Day shopping, saying it’ll open an hour earlier this year.

The retailer plans to open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, with most Macy’s stores closing at 2 a.m., and then reopening at 5 a.m. Friday.

The department store has been open on Thanksgiving evening since 2013, but remained open through the night.
