Jackson International to move to Mineral Ridge

MINERAL RIDGE

Manufacturer Jackson International will move its operations in Michigan to Mineral Ridge after it received a state loan.

Jackson International, a manufacturer of uncoupling levers and other devices for the railcar and the railroad industry, received $412,500 from the state to purchase the property at 3714 Union St. through its real-estate holding company, 635 Franklin LLC.

The loan, allocated from the state’s Regional 166 Loan Program, also will go toward the purchase of machinery and equipment.

The move, which will take place over two years, will bring 10 jobs to the area that pay $15 per hour, plus benefits.

State Rep. Sean O’Brien of Bazetta, D-63rd, announced the company’s move Monday.

The company decided to come to Ohio to serve its expanding client base, which spans from Chicago to New York and the Eastern Seaboard, according to a news release issued by O’Brien’s office.

The company would not answer questions outside of the release.

The 79,102-plus-square-foot manufacturing facility Jackson International will operate is valued at $291,800, according to the Trumbull County Auditor’s website.

The facility has been vacant for about a year and a half, Weathersfield Township Trustee Gil Blair said.

“We certainly welcome Jackson International to the community,” Blair said. “We are proud they chose our community.”
