Association makes recommendations

YOUNGSTOWN

Judge Shirley J. Christian, a Republican incumbent Mahoning County Common Pleas Court judge, and her Democratic challenger in the Nov. 8 election, Anthony M. D’Apolito, are both rated as recommended by the county bar association based on an association membership poll.

The association does not endorse judicial candidates, but it rates them based on their legal knowledge, professional experience, judicial temperament, integrity, diligence and professional responsibility.

Judge Gene Donofrio, who is unopposed for re-election to the 7th District Court of Appeals, is highly recommended. Judge Theresa Dellick of the county juvenile court and Judge David A. D’Apolito of the county court, both unopposed for re-election, were rated as recommended.

Cops probe break-in

BOARDMAN

Police are investigating a break-in where the victim fired a warning shot.

A Chester Drive resident told police he found a man in his garage at 5 a.m. Saturday. He grabbed his revolver and yelled at the intruder, firing a warning shot in the air. The intruder fled.

Officers were unable to determine if anything was stolen.

Minutes with mayor

YOUNGSTOWN

Mayor John A. McNally will have his “5 Minutes with the Mayor” session at 5 p.m. next Tuesday at the Brownlee Woods library branch, 4010 Sheridan Road. It was originally scheduled for today. Attendees are invited to voice concerns to or ask questions regarding issues with the city.
