Free yoga event by student group

YOUNGSTOWN

Student Recreational Advisory Committee, a student-led group of campus recreation employees from Youngstown State University, will sponsor “Namaste in the YO,” a free yoga event to celebrate the Youngstown community and yogis alike.

Namaste means “the light in me honors the light in you.”

The event will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Watson and Tressel Training Site with a community yoga class from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Canned goods will be collected for Second Harvest Bank of the Mahoning Valley.

Lecturer to discuss planet discoveries

NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

Westminster College’s Department of Physics will host David A. Weintraub for the annual Robert M. Woods Memorial Lecture at 7 p.m. Nov. 3, in Phillips Lecture Hall, Hoyt Science Resources Center. The lecture and the reception at 6:30 p.m. are free and open to the public.

Weintraub, professor of astronomy at Vanderbilt University, will present “Profound and Staggering: The Potential Impact of the Discovery of Planets Around Other Stars on Religion.”

Weintraub will describe how the discoveries of planets in orbit have been made and predict the progress astronomers are likely to make in their studies over the next 50 years. He will explain the consequences of those potential discoveries for selected religions.
