YOUNGSTOWN

Dress To Succeed, a free clothing ministry headquartered at St. John Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., has expanded its services to include providing clothing and services to the Ohio State Penitentiary for returning citizens before they are released.

A grand opening focusing on this will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at OSP, 878 Coitsville-Hubbard Road on the city’s East Side.

Released inmates, within 30 to 60 days of their release date, will receive at least one professional outfit, leisure outfit and apparel that will benefit them as they prepare to enter the job market and re-enter the community.

The mission of Dress to Succeed is to promote low-income men, women, (returning citizens) economic and social development through career development, job retention and the promotion of self-sufficiency, according to its news release.

Dress to Succeed responds to the needs of the community by providing programs that help economically disadvantaged people acquire jobs, retain their new positions and succeed in the mainstream workplace.

The group is an affiliate of Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing our Neighborhoods, Home for Good Referral Center and the city’s Community Initiative to Reduce Violence.

The expanded programs and services reach some 10,000 adults in the Mahoning Valley.
