Home sales down in September

September home sales were down across the Mahoning Valley.

Closed sales in Mahoning county decreased 2.8 percent to 242 from 249 reported in September 2015, according to the Youngstown/Columbiana Association of Realtors. Pending sales in the county were up 16.5 percent year over year to 283.

New listings in the county dropped 29.7 percent to 272, and the inventory of homes for sale dropped 33.4 percent to 1,172.

The average sales price for a home in Mahoning County during the month of September was $109,523, compared with the average sales price of $109,482 reported in September 2015.

Year-to-date figures show closed sales in the county are up by 1.3 percent at 2,108, up from 2,080 reported this time last year.

Columbiana County saw a 15.9 percent decline in closed sales down to 74 in September from 88.

Pending sales increased by 27.1 percent to 108 sales, up from 85 reported in September 2015.

New listings decreased by 16.3 percent to 108, and the inventory of homes for sales dropped 25.2 percent to 460.

The average sales price increased 28.2 percent to $120,953.

Year-to-date figures show closed sales in the county are up 6 percent to 621 from 586.

Closed sales in the Trumbull County declined 6.1 percent to 169 in September 2016 from 180 reported in September 2015, according to the Warren Area Board of Realtors.

Pending sales in the county were up 13.8 percent to 215.

New listings in the county were up 8.8 percent and the inventory of homes for sale was down 16.5 percent.

Year-to-date figures show closed sales are up 1.5 percent to 1,523.
