WARREN

St. John Paul Parish, 420 North St. NW, will host guest speaker Dr. Paul A. Wright during a program planned for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26.

The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.

He will speak on his life-changing encounter with St. Teresa of Calcutta, which he said gave him a new direction and purpose in his life.

He wrote “Mother Teresa’s Prescription, Finding Happiness and Peace in Service.” The book will be available to buy. Proceeds benefit the Missionaries of Charity who continue St. Teresa’s work of serving the poor.

In the mid-1980s, Dr. Wright, along with his father, founded the “Poorest of the Poor” project providing basic supplies to the needy in the United States and around the world. In 2001, he established the “Medication Mission,” a program providing free prescription medications to the needy of Northeast Ohio.

Coffee series

VILLA MARIA, PA.

Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center offers an ongoing series “Coffee and Contemplation” scheduled to take place once a month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Sessions include a presentation, group discussion and time for personal prayer.

Sister Barbara O’Donnell will present this month’s session “Vision of Life: Virtue and Virtues” next week. Cost is $7. Participants may stay for lunch for an additional $5.

Pastor Bonnie Verdinek from Righteousness Being Restored will be the guest speaker when Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries, an interdenominational ministry, meets Monday at the Elton Beard Cabin by the children’s playground in Boardman Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road (U.S. Route 224). Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. with ministry at 7.

Pet blessing planned

St. Jude Church, 180 Seventh St., will conduct a pet blessing at 2 p.m. Oct. 23 by the flagpole at the church. Each animal will be blessed and receive a medal. There also will be two gift baskets and some giveaways.

Pet should be leashed or in carriers.

Workshop scheduled

LIBERTY

Unity Centre for Spiritual Living, 226 Naylor Lloyd Road, will sponsor a workshop on “The Divine Feminine” from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 23 with the Rev. Rose Houston, facilitator.

She was ordained a Unity minister in 1998 and served as director of Silent Unity’s Telephone Prayer Ministry and was a training coordinator. She is pastoral care minister at Unity.

Gospel Temple Baptist Church, 279 Whipple Ave., will observe All Ministries Day at 4 p.m. Sunday. Special guests will be the Rev. Kevin Rushing and congregation of United Baptist Church in Akron.

‘Arc of the Covenant’

YOUNSTOWN

The Rev. Marion Masters and the Davidic Army of God will present the “Arc of the Covenant” at 3 p.m. Sunday at The Place Where the Lord Provides, 104 W. Evergreen Ave. The ministry is based at Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church in Niles.
