AKRON

Canfield’s doubles team of Hannah Cianciola and Sydney Cianciola qualified for state on Thursday by winning two district matches at the Springside Racquet & Fitness Club. In their first match, the Cianciolas defeated Wadsworth’s Ashley Tittle and Hannah Jarolim by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Canfield’s team won by the same scores against Mayfield’s Shannon McGill and Caitlyn Hsu. Saturday, Canfield will begin the district finals against Magnificat’s team of Molly Bauer and Ana Lopez. In singles play, Canfield’s Emily Hofsess lost her first-round match to Magnificat’s Anna Roggenburk. Scores were 6-0, 6-0.

VOLLEYBALL

Struthers 25-25-25, East 12-21-17

STRUTHERS

Torre Smrek had 10 kills, five digs and four aces in a straight-set win for Struthers. Karli Shives added 10 kills and five digs. Jasmine Davis racked up 15 blocks for East.

Canfield 25-25-25, Boardman 22-17-15

CANFIELD

Maddy Johns had 18 kills for Canfield to lead all players while Morgan Cleevely had 14 digs in the win. Kaylin Burkey had 16 kills for the Spartans while Haley Blangero contributed with 15 digs.

Newton Falls 25-25-25, Campbell 3-12-6

NEWTON FALLS

Olivia Hedge had 16 points to go along with 10 kills for Newton Falls (21-1, 10-0 All American Conference Blue) to cap off a regular season and win the All-American Conference Blue title. Autumn Hutson led the Tigers in digs with 17 and Ashley Guling added 15 points. Campbell (1-21,0-10 AAC Blue) did not provide stats. JV: Newton Falls 2-0.

Columbiana 25-25-25, Leetonia 17-22-18

LEETONIA

Dee Dixon and Alexis Cross each had 10 kills for Columbiana. Emily Gosselin put up 25 assists, six points and three aces and Morgan Highly scored 15 points and added five service aces.

South Range 9-21-25-25-17, Springfield 25-25-15-23-15

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Sara Chaszeyka spiked 28 kills and had nine blocks for Springfield (12-10) and Kaelin Yemma dished 39 assists. No stats were reported for South Range.

Western Reserve 25-25-25, Lowellville 12-15-19

BERLIN CENTER

Elizabeth Bowman had 17 assists, four aces and 11 points, Kaitlyn Deal had 13 digs, three aces and 13 points and Lainie Grope had eight kills, four aces and six points for Reserve. No stats were reported for Lowellville.

Mathews 25-25-25, Badger 18-12-15

KINSMAN

Morgan Williams had nine kills while Paige Sponsler had seven of her own in a straight-set win for Mathews. Katarina Schubert had 18 assists and 14 digs. Noelle Migliozzi had eight aces. No statistics for Badger were provided.

Lordstown 25-25-25, Heartland Christian 13-14-23

COLUMBIANA

Bonnie Flynn contributed 18 kills, 27 digs and 12 points for the Lions. Dara Arthurs made 22 digs and three kills.

Newbury 13-9-11

BRISTOL

Hailie Durst had 12 kills for Bristol (15-7,10-7 Northeastern League) in a sweep of Newbury (0-14,0-11 Northeastern League). Autumn Miller had 11 assists and kaylie Rowland had 10 digs for the Panthers. Newbury did not provide stats. JV Score Bristol 2-0.

Heartland Christian 25-25-26, Maplewood 11-16-24

COLUMBIANA

Heartland Christian’s Bonnie Flynn became the school’s all-time career leader in kills. With 31 kills, she now has 1,432 kills and counting. She surpassed Kristin Osborn’s mark of 1,408. Flynn is 21st in Ohio for all-time kills. Hannah Brandenstein dished 38 assists for the Lions. Bailey Lewis had 20 digs for Maplewood.

BOYS SOCCER

Hubbard 2, Crestview 2

EAST FAIRFIELD

Florian Kurz and Matt Nery scored to put the Rebels (9-3-4) 2-0 in the second half before Hubbard scored twice to equalize and earn a draw. Names of the Hubbard goal scorers were not provided.

South Range 3, Austintown Fitch 1

AUSTINTOWN

South Range (13-2) finishes the regular season ranked No. 8 in the Division III state poll. Brandon Youngs scored twice and Reese Babuder scored once for the Raiders. Mark Vennetti and Canaan Johnson each had an assist. Zack Glavic found the back of the net for Fitch. South Range’s Luke Schaefer made six saves and Fitch’s Trevor Hykes made 10.

Lordstown 3, Newbury 2

NEWBURY

Behner notched the game winner in the 76th minute for Lordstown. The Red Devils led 2-0 at the half on two goals from D’Amico. Surka and Kolenic tied the contest with a goal each before Behner scored. Himes made nine saves for Lordstown and Piczer made 3 for Newbury.

Hubbard 1, Champion 1

CHAMPION

Hubbard’s Samantha Mesmer and Champion’s Alaina Fell traded goals. Kyleigh Johnson collected an assist for the Eagles.
