Poland Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Little Red Schoolhouse, 4515 Center Road, for a program by Suzie McCabe, president of Canfield Historical Society. She will present the history of the Mahoning Dispatch newspaper.

Seats are available for a bus trip to the Western Reserve Historical Society and Cleveland Art Museum Oct. 22. The cost is $60 per person. For tickets, make checks payable and mail to Poland Historical Society, P.O. Box 5052, Poland, OH 44514. The bus will leave Poland Seminary High School parking lot at 8:30 a.m. (arrive 15 minutes early), and will return at 4 p.m. Call Larry Bartos for itinerary or questions at 330-757-4223.

The Little Red Schoolhouse will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 23. Fall crafts and pumpkin painting will be available for children. This event is free.

The society has two books for sale. The first is a reproduction of the book originally published in 1966, and covers Poland’s historical highlights from 1796-1966. The second book covers Poland’s history over the past 50 years and includes pages of color photos. Book one sells for $10 and book two sells for $15. Both can be purchased at Trolio’s, 35 McKinley Way (Towne One Plaza) or at the Village Pantry, 221 S. Main St. Books can be mailed for an additional $3.50 per book by sending a check to Poland Historical Society to the address above.

The society would like to complete its collection of Poland Seminary High School yearbooks. Missing years are 1936, 1937, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1970 to the present. The group also is trying to complete a collection of the firemen’s phone directories from the 1960s through 1971.
