Pumpkin carve-out, wagon rides at park
BOARDMAN
The annual Pumpkin Carve-out Contest will be Friday from 6-9 p.m., Saturday from noon-9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at Boardman Park.
Participants must bring carving tools and newspapers to wrap waste. Prizes will be awarded in several age categories from children to adults. There is a small fee.
Boo Thru the Woods will take place at the park Sunday from 1-3 p.m. The free trick-or-treat event begins near the Hofmaster Pavilion.
Family-friendly haunted wagon rides will start this weekend and run through Oct. 30. Tickets will be sold from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The wagon rides start at dusk. Tickets are $5 for adults; $3 for children 12 and under; and $18 for families of two adults and up to four children ($15 for Boardman residents). The wagon-ride evenings include a bonfire, a bounce-around, Jocko the Balloon Man and concessions.
Russian pianist in concert at YSU

Russian-born pianist Kirill Gliadkovsky will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bliss Recital Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University. The performance is free and open to the public.
Gliadkovsky is the director of keyboards at Saddleback College. He has toured extensively on three continents, performing in Russia, Italy, U.K., Poland, Mongolia, Canada, Japan and the United States. For information, call 330-941-2307.
Maluso, Blackson to discuss career

The Mahoning Valley-based cabaret duo of Mary Jo Maluso and Rick Blackson will discuss their career at 10 a.m. Saturday in the meeting room of Kravitz Deli, 3135 Belmont Ave.
