Police responded to two possible drug-overdose deaths over the weekend.

They were called to a home on Belmont Street Northwest at 9:48 a.m. Saturday, where they found a woman, 33, of East Avenue Southeast, dead. The person who called 911 said the woman had a history of drug abuse.

They also were called to the Riverview Motel, 3060 Parkman Road Northwest, at 1 p.m. Sunday for a woman, 32, of Denison Avenue Northwest, dead on the floor of a room with a syringe in her hand.

Police found drug paraphernalia and possible crack cocaine on the dresser near the woman.

The same woman had been charged with petty theft in April, accused of stealing merchandise from the Walmart in Bazetta and “screaming that she needed detoxed,” according to a Bazetta police report.

She had refused treatment by ambulance personnel and was released with a summons to appear in court.
