Mount Union 50, Heidelberg 14

ALLIANCE

No. 1 ranked Mount Union outgained Heidelberg 302-31 in the second half to pull away for another Ohio Athletic Conference win at Mount Union Stadium. Mount Union (5-0, 4-0) led 21-14 at the half. The defense came out in the third quarter and held Heidelberg (2-3, 2-2 OAC) to 33 total yards and one first down for the quarter while the Purple Raiders offense tallied 17 points. The linebacker duo of senior Charlie Dear and sophomore Danny Robinson each had a game-high 12 tackles while junior Kollyn Crenshaw had an interception. On offense, the Raiders had 502 total yards as they chewed up 278 yards on the ground with six rushing touchdowns and were led by the senior tandem of Bradley Mitchell and Dwayne Aaron. Mitchell rushed for 133 yards and two scores on 26 carries to mark the fifth straight and 17th career 100-yard rushing game while Aaron also scored twice and matched his career-high with 84 yards on 15 carries. Heidelberg quarterback Tyler Stoyle was 11-of-29 passing for 172 yards with a touchdown and an interception while Brandon Short had 63 yards rushing. Defensive lineman Austin Crow had 11 tackles, five for loss, and 2.5 sacks.

Washington & Jefferson 62, Thiel 14

GREENVILLE, PA.

W&J’s (3-1, 1-1) Pete Coughlin lit up Thiel for 319 yards and five touchdown passes while going 17-for-20. Jesse Zubik caught 10 of those passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns. Ryan Radke threw for 172 yards and two touchdown passes for Thiel (2-3, 1-2). Radke also rushed for 48 yards.

Baldwin-Wallace 28, Wilmington 17

WILMINGTON

Sophomore quarterback Jake Hudson completed 11 of 17 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown and ran for a game-high 150 yards as the Baldwin Wallace University football team overcame a 14-0 deficit. The Quakers led 7-0 after one quarter, 14-6 at halftime and 14-13 after three periods. BW (2-3, 1-3 OAC) out-gained Wilmington (0-5, 0-4 OAC) 386-347, including 255-157 on the ground, to increase its series advantage to 15-3 overall. The loss was the 34th straight in the OAC for Wilmington. Sophomore running back Hayden Stinnett came off the bench to rush for 94 yards in 16 attempts with three TDs — the first three of his career. Senior Mike Waggoner caught a team-high three passes for 41 yards. On defense, senior middle linebacker Brian Stepp had a game-high 11 tackles and has 39 in BW’s last three games.

Westminster 37, Saint Vincent 22

NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

Junior Paul Columbo went 23 of 32 for a game-high 276 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions for the Titans (4-1, 2-1 Presidents Athletic Conference). Columbo passed Todd Huda (Springfield, 1994-97) for fifth all-time in school history with 4,322 passing yards. Junior Dominique McKinley ran for a game-high 118 yards on 27 carries with two scores and passed Joe Veres (1968-71) for sixth all-time in school history with 2,126 career rushing yards. Senior Mac Quinn led the Titan defense with seven tackles, including one-and-a-half for a loss. Sophomore Miguel Luis added six tackles, including a tackle for a loss. For the game, Westminster out-gained Saint Vincent 460 yards (184 rushing 276 passing) to 225 (60 rushing, 165 passing).

Denison 33, Hiram 19

HIRAM

The Hiram College football team jumped out to an early 13-0 lead but was unable to hold off the undefeated Big Red. Offensively, Hiram totaled 364 yards of offense, the most given up by Denison through five weeks of the regular season. The Terriers’ 19 points are also the second most allowed by the Big Red. Danny Robinson finished with 66 yards on 12 carries, while Isaiah Jones produced the first multi-touchdown game of his Hiram career, adding 55 yards on nine carries and a pair of scores. Dominic Paolo completed the game with 255 yards passing and a touchdown, while Perkins finished with 83 yards receiving and a score. Joshua Philander led the Terriers in receptions (six) while Akili Tate added 61 yards in the passing game. D.D. Fleetion (East) recovered a fumble. Defensively, senior Kyle Burchett posted a season-high 18 tackles (12 solo/six assisted) while adding a pair of sacks on the day. He also forced a fumble and added a pass deflection.
