60th anniversary celebrated by Mr., Mrs. Becker

NEW BEDFORD, PA.

Mr. and Mrs. James Becker of New Bedford, Pa., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary during a dinner Sept. 17 at their home.

Hosting the event were their son, James Becker Jr. of West Middlesex, Pa., and his fiance, Cathy Breneman, and granddaughter, Jackie Schleiden and her husband, Mike.

The former Stena Krauss and Mr. Becker exchanged marriage vows Sept. 13, 1956, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Youngstown.

A son, George Becker, is deceased. There are three grandchildren and two-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Becker retired in 1999 from Mahoning National Bank in Youngstown, where she was vice president. She was first a teller in 1967, worked various positions and was named branch manager of the year in 1994. She was the first woman to be named to the board of directors of Boardman Civic Association, where she served in various offices including president. Mrs. Becker volunteered for Tod Children’s Hospital telethon, Health-O-Rama at Southern Park Mall, Career Day at Springfield Local Schools, Junior Achievement and Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce membership drives. In 1995, she was YWCA Woman of the Year.

Mrs. Becker is a member of West Middlesex United Methodist Church.

Her husband is retired from Youngstown Sheet and Tube. In the 1960s, he was a stock car champion at Canfield and Sharon speedways.
