POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:

GIRARD

Oct. 2

Theft: A man discovered a passport, a pair of sunglasses and other items had been removed from his vehicle while he was at a business in the 700 block of East Liberty Street.

Oct. 3

Theft: A New Jersey man noticed seven strips of a prescription medication missing after having visited a residence in the 900 block of Washington Avenue.

Criminal mischief: A man reportedly kicked and did $500 in damage to doors on a shed in the 700 block of North St. Clair Avenue.

Harassment: A Shannon Road woman told officers a man called claiming he was watching her as well as those who came to her home.

Oct. 5

Aggravated menacing: A man told authorities people dressed as clowns brandished knives when he followed their brown station wagon near North State Street.

Auto theft: A 1984 Chevrolet El Camino was stolen in the 200 block of Church Hill Road.

Theft: A woman reported her son’s $200 mountain bike stolen from their residence in the 1100 block of Patricia Drive.

Menacing: A man told officers a girl came to his South Davis Street home and made an implied threat against his 10th-grade daughter.

LIBERTY

Oct. 1

Arrest: Police at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital picked up 29-year-old Vincent M. Kather Jr. of Secrist Lane, Youngstown. He was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Theft: A Logan Gate Road woman found out her stolen debit card was used to make between $700 and $1,000 worth of unauthorized charges.

Arrest: Andrew Scott, 29, was taken into custody after police had pulled him over on Belmont Avenue. Scott, of Centervale Avenue, Boardman, was wanted on a township probation-violation charge.

Arrests: After stopping their vehicle near Belmont Avenue, authorities charged Michael C. Brown, 26, of Wirt Street, Youngstown, with driving under suspension and obstructing official business, and 25-year-old Isaiah G. Brown of Crandall Avenue, Youngstown, with obstructing official business. Michael Brown, who also was wanted on a warrant, provided an incorrect Social Security number; in addition, Isaiah Brown admitted having given false information to prevent Michael Brown from being arrested, police alleged.

Domestic violence: Authorities charged Jacarra Amy, 18, of South Raccoon Road, and 30-year-old Teondrea T. Waller of East Avondale Avenue, with domestic violence after each sister alleged having been assaulted by the other while at a Belmont Avenue motel. The two Youngstown women also faced felony-vandalism charges because an estimated $1,500 in damage was done to the room during the melee, a report showed.

Robbery: A Frederick Street man reported two gunmen in black clothing who also were armed with stun guns pushed him to the ground and fired a stun weapon at his chest, then stole $100 and a cellphone before being picked up in a black vehicle, possibly a Lincoln model.

Oct. 2

Arrest: Police responded to a report of someone banging on doors and windows to a home in the 2000 block of Pleasant Valley Road before charging 29-year-old Tyeshia D. Poole of Southern Boulevard, Warren, with operating a vehicle impaired and resisting arrest after saying an intoxicated Poole had driven her car into a nearby ditch. Poole, who authorities said had a 0.150 blood-alcohol content, which is nearly double Ohio’s 0.08 legal limit, initially refused to get into a cruiser, then would not allow herself to be booked, fingerprinted and photographed, a report said.

Oct. 3

Arrest: Weathersfield Township authorities handed Liberty police 25-year-old Wayne M. Schofield of Kelly Street, Mineral Ridge, who was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Domestic violence: While answering a call about shots having been fired and a large fight taking place near Colonial and Green Acres drives, authorities charged William E. Dorsey of Colonial, Liberty, with domestic violence after a woman alleged the 28-year-old Dorsey had threatened to kill her. No charges had been filed against the other combatants at the time of the report.

Arrest: Township authorities were requested to assist a Youngstown arson investigator at a Belmont Avenue motel, where they arrested 35-year-old Jennifer L. Cupan upon discovering Cupan, of Goist Street, Girard, was wanted on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court.

Oct. 5

Arrest: A traffic stop near state Route 304 resulted in the arrest of 34-year-old Diamond A. Carpec of East Park Avenue, Brookfield, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

HUBBARD

Oct. 1

Harassment: A Jackson Street woman said a man made at least 10 such calls to her and a 12-year-old relative.

Oct. 2

Animal cruelty: Officers charged 65-year-old Walter S. Spincic Jr. of West Liberty Street, Hubbard, with a second-degree misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals after having received an animal complaint and reportedly finding a cat in a locked pickup truck. Also in the vehicle was a large amount of trash, various loose objects that could be harmful or fatal to an animal if ingested, a litter box with days’ worth of feces and a bowl with no water, a report showed.

Oct. 3

Burglary: To a residence in the 500 block of Ruth Drive, from which a box of syringes for diabetics was stolen.

Oct. 4

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 3800 block of North Main Street resulted in the arrest of Julia D. Gould, 32, of Merwin-Chase Road, Brookfield, on one fifth-degree felony count each of drug possession and receiving stolen property, as well as on a misdemeanor warrant from Youngstown. Numerous pill bottles, including one partially filled but with no prescription, were found; also, the vehicle had stolen license plates, a report stated.

Oct. 5

Arrest: Campbell police on state Route 616 transferred custody of 24-year-old Jamont M. Robinson to Hubbard authorities. Robinson, of Palmer Avenue, Campbell, was wanted on a Hubbard warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court for an arraignment.

Drugs: Police responded to a neighbor’s allegation that someone was smoking marijuana before issuing minor-misdemeanor citations to two Hubbard boys, 15 and 16. A suspected marijuana pipe was found in a box near the teens, a report stated.

Harassment: A West Liberty Street woman reported a caller claiming to work for the Internal Revenue Service’s office in Elmhurst, N.Y., told her a case was pending against her. The man called again after the woman had hung up and made vulgar, sexual comments to her, a report said.

Arrest: Youngstown police handed to Hubbard authorities Michael V. Maguire, 34, of Grandview Avenue, Hubbard. Maguire was accused of failing to appear in court to face a driving-under-suspension charge.
