WARREN
Community Church of God in Christ, 310 Austin Ave. SW, will mark its 75th anniversary with a two-day celebration.
At 7 p.m. Oct. 15, there will be a program with mime and music. The theme is from Psalm 100:5, “The Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting and His truth endureth to all generations.”
A special service will be at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 16 will feature guest speaker Elder Elbert Crosby from Believers Christian Fellowship. A program at 4 p.m. that day will include music, presentations and speaker Pastor Terry Johnson. The theme is from I Corinthians 3:9, “For we are Laborers together with God.”
The events are open to the public.
The church began as Tabernacle COGIC in 1941 under Pastor Eli Holman. Its current leader is Elder Auston Shaw III.
Lost child blessing
WARREN
Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE, invites the community to join in evening prayer at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel for all who have lost a child. Prayer cards will be available; fill out a card for anyone who has lost a child at any time in that child’s life – from miscarriage through the loss of an adult child.
Pastor appreciation

Faith Fellowship Church of God, 388 E. Midlothian Blvd., will observe Pastor Appreciation Day on Sunday.
Claudine Bridges will play the pipe organ for pre-worship from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. followed by Phyllis Vivod on keyboard and Dr. Jack G. Bridges leading the choir. Special songs will be sung by Steve Vivod, Laura Anzevino and Bridges.
Associate Pastor Kenneth Phillips will preach. Pastor Jonathan Mitchell and his wife, Joyce, will be recognized. A potluck lunch will follow.
Taiz prayer

Villa Maria will host Taiz prayer at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Magnificat Chapel. Participants will gather around the cross for prayer in the tradition of the ecumenical monastery of Taiz , France. This Christian interdenominational prayer form includes music, Scripture, and silence.
Light refreshments and fellowship will follow. There is no charge to attend this unique experience, and all are welcome.

Zion Hill Baptist Church, 220 Jefferson St., will mark its 84th anniversary during an observance at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The theme is “84 Years and Still Standing on the Promises of God” taken from 2 Peter 1:1-4.
Speaker will be Pastor Clevon Dukes of New Hope Baptist Church in Farrell, Pa.
Chairperson is Jennifer Williams.
Labyrinth walk
VILLA MARIA, PA.
Villa Maria will host the last guided labyrinth walk of the season from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 16 on the grounds of Villa Maria Community Center. This ongoing series will resume in May 2017. Dates will be announced on the website.
Participants are invited to meet at the outdoor labyrinth to prayerfully walk the grass path after receiving thematic instructions from the presenter.
The walks are offered at no charge. Free-will offerings are accepted to help continue services that VMESC offers such as walks and other programs.

Mass for couples
YOUNGSTOWN
Bishop George V. Murry of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown will celebrate a special Mass at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Canton to mark the wedding anniversaries of 51 couples. They are being honored for a total of 2,428 years of wedded life ranging from 25 to 69 years.
Wilber and Ida Pedrotty Jr. are celebrating 68 years of marriage.
Other couples celebrating will be: 16 couples married 51-69 years; 16 couples married 50 years; nine couples will observe 40 years; and nine couples will mark 25 years.
The celebration includes renewal of marriage vows at Mass, and a personalized certificate.
A reception will take place for the honored couples and their families after the Mass in the school hall.
Healing service

Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, will conduct a service of word and healing at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 for area Lutheran churches.
Men of Faith event

Donations of canned goods are being collected for Big Reach Center of Hope. Cases of vegetables and fruit are requested.
The Men’s Rally in the Valley will be April 29, 2017.
First Friday Club

Robert Carl Mickens will be the featured speaker when the First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown meets Nov. 3 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St., for the new season of programs.
He is editor-in-chief of Global Pulse in Rome Italy. He has lived in Rome since 1986 and worked at Vatican Radio.
His topic will be “Speaking Frankly about Francis.”
The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $16.

Church mission work draws BYU students

Bringham Young University’s enrollment has reached levels not seen since 2012, when the Mormon Church announced it was lowering the age required to serve in church missions. BYU has 33,360 students this fall semester. Enrollment dropped 10 percent after Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints lowered the minimum age for missionaries from 21 to 19 for women and from 19 to 18 for men.
