The Boardman boys cross country team improved its 2016 record to 90-19 following a third place finish at the Suburban League Championship on Aug. 31 at The Canfield Fairgrounds.
The Spartans placed fourth of the top 20 runners in the 359 runner field.
Senior Chris Butler took first overall at a time of 16:12, while senior Nick Digiacomo was fourth with a time of 16:41. Junior Mark Moradian and freshman Mitchell Dunham were the other Spartans represented in the top twenty with times of 17:32 and 17:34, which were good enough for 17th and 18th place.
“This was not easy,” said Spartan head coach John Phillips. “After running in the Spartan Invitational on Saturday to bounce back and run in a large meet again on Tuesday is very challenging for any runner.”
Rounding out the top finishers for Boardman was senior Nathaniel Ams in 29th place at 18:09, senior Dominic Eorio in 52nd at 18:46 and junior Matt Moradian in 62nd place with a 18:58 finish.
Setting a new personal best at Canfield were junior Jason Fabian at 19:27, junior Tony Saab at 20:13 and senior Jacob Kohuth at 23:23.
