YOUNGSTOWN
The Youngstown Playhouse will present “Extremities,” the first production of this season’s Griffith-Adler Actor Series, for six performances this weekend and next.
Show times are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and Oct. 13, 14 and 15. Tickets are $15 ($12 for students and seniors) and are available in advance at theyoungstownplayhouse.com or by calling 330-788-8739.
The drama, written by William Mastrosimone and directed by Timothy Thomas, features a cast of Joanna Andrei, Mark Warchol, Zara Markman and Jackie Stevens.
“Extremities” tells the story of a young woman who is attacked in her home by a would-be rapist. The woman’s female roommates come home to discover that she has been assaulted and has subdued her attacker, resulting in a provocative and turbulent discussion of the situation.
Premiering Off-Broadway in 1982, the play originally starred Susan Sarandon. Later in the run, Farrah Fawcett took over the lead role to great acclaim; she subsequently appeared in the 1986 film version, along with James Russo, Alfre Woodard and Diana Scarwid.
Due to the intensity of its subject matter, “Extremities” is recommended for a mature audience only.
