Tour of homes and cathedral set

NEW CASTLE, PA.
New Castle Historic Neighborhood Association is sponsoring a tour of seven Victorian homes and the Scottish Rite Cathedral from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. New Castle’s Historic North Hill District is listed on the National Registrar of Historical Places. The North Hill tour will include completely renovated homes, including the Historical Society’s Greer-Clavelli Mansion, redesigned homes like the Stritmater House and homes undergoing renovation such as the Raney-Jameson Mansion.
All the homes are located within a one block area. Visitors will be able to tour at their own pace, enjoy the workmanship of Victorian craftsmen, learn the histories of the original home owners and hear about the process of bringing an old home back to life.
Several artisans will be selling their wares along the tour route. There also will be antique cars from the turn of the century on display. Crooked Tongue Brewing will have samples available and Tin City Caters will have food available
Tickets are $12 per person before the event, and are available at the Pokeberry Exchange, 41 N. Mercer St. The day of the event, tickets will be $15 and will be available on the front porch of the Historical Society Mansion, 408 N. Jefferson St. Tickets for children 10 and under are $5. Parking is free in the Scottish Rite Cathedral lots off East Lincoln Avenue and the Historical Society lots off Wallace Avenue.
