National Council of Negro Women installs news officers

Janice Taylor, the Northern Ohio representative for the National Council of Negro Women, conducted the installation of officers for the Youngstown Section on Sept. 10. Those installed for the 2016-2018 term are Angela Pickett, president; Darla Dunlap, first vice president; Kristy Gore, second vice president; Karen Jackson-Cook, historian; Audrey Gillian, corresponding secretary; Felicia Alexander, recording secretary; Diane Hyshaw, assistant recording secretary; Marilyn Wright, parliamentarian; Virginia Fannings, financial secretary; Jennifer Miller Howard, chaplain; Beverly Willis, treasurer; and Sandy Britt, executive adviser.

The Youngstown Section of NCNW supports programs that benefit senior citizens, youth and women’s health and was founded in 1935.

This year’s annual Membership Luncheon will mark the Youngstown Section’s 40th year and will take place Oct. 15 at St. Mark Hall, 3560 Logan Ave. The theme will be “Fortified by the past, focused on the future.”

The keynote speaker will be Atty. Andrea Burton with musical guest Arielle Green. Tickets are $25 and the deadline to purchase is Wednesday. A basket raffle will begin before the luncheon at 11:30 a.m.
