Acclaimed writers will read from works
YOUNGSTOWN
LIT Youngstown will host novelists Christopher Barzak of Youngstown State University and Lawrence Coates of Bowling Green University will read from their work at 7 p.m. Monday at Suzie’s Dogs and Drafts, downtown Youngstown. An open mic will follow the reading.
The reading is part of Lit Youngstown’s monthly series featuring local and regional novelists, poets and nonfiction writers. Open mic readers are invited to the stage for five minutes to read their work or another writer’s they admire.

Local author will sign her first book
BOARDMAN
Kathleen A. Barreca, M.S.Ed., LPC, daughter of Leo and the late Angie Barreca of Girard and past adjunct professor at ITT-Tech, released her first book, “The Throwaway Nun.” She will be available to sign her book at noon Saturday at Barnes and Noble, 381 Boardman-Poland Road.
The story revolves around her aunt, the youngest child of Italian/Catholic immigrants, who in 1947 at age 13, entered the convent encountering experiences that changed her life forever.
The book was released in March and was picked up by Linda Langton/Langtons International out of New York City, who adapted the book into a screenplay.
Author will share ‘Lost Youngstown’
GIRARD
Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St., will welcome Sean Posey, author of “Lost Youngstown,” at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13.
