Health screenings at SCOPE Senior Center

Warren SCOPE Senior Center, 220 W. Market St., is offering a preventative health event on Dec. 7 presented by Life Line Screening.

The event offers five screenings that scan for potential health problems related to blocked arteries, abdominal aortic aneurysms, hardening of the arteries in the legs, atrial fibriliation or irregular heartbeat, and bone-density screening for men and women.

The cost for the Wellness Package, which includes four vascular tests and osteoporosis screening, is $149, or $139 with a member discount. All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. For an appointment, call 1-888-653-6441.

Prostate screening

YOUNGSTOWN

Free prostate screening for men over 40 who are uninsured or underinsured is offered from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday by the Midlothian Free Health Clinic inside First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave.

Mercy Health lab personnel will perform a PSA brook draw. To register, call Mercy Health - Youngstown at 330-480-3405. Food is provided.

The event is sponsored by Man Up Mahoning Valley, Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley and the Midlothian Free Health Clinic.

Mental health services

SHAKER HEIGHTS

The Hadden Clinic at Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development accepts Medicaid reimbursement for treatment of qualified families who have coverage through CareSource.

The clinic provides psychotherapy and other mental health services to children and adolescents up to 18. It also specializes in treatment of Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders for mothers. CareSource, based in Dayton, is a Medicaid managed-care plan serving Northeast Ohio.

Hadden Clinic also accepts Medical Mutual of Ohio, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare and Aetna.

Outpatient services

NEW CASTLE, PA.

UPMC Jameson and UPMC Horizon are introducing new and enhanced outpatient services for patients with behavioral health care needs in Lawrence and Mercer counties. The expansion of community-based outpatient services will create additional access to care that addresses individual patient needs and improves outcomes, while placing patients in the least-restrictive environments possible.

Because the new, evidence-based care models will significantly lessen demand for hospital-based behavioral health services, the inpatient behavioral health unit will be discontinued at UPMC Jameson.

The new and enhanced outpatient services include:

• Peer Navigator Program: Certified peer specialists work with the acute inpatient medical units and emergency departments to assist patients who come to the hospital for drug and alcohol dependency. These specialists are living in recovery and can provide mentoring, guidance, support services, education and referrals to services available for continued care.

• Consult and Liaison Program: Behavioral health clinicians assist with patient consultations on the medical hospital units and in the emergency departments.

• Partial Hospitalization Program Expansion: Offers five-day-per-week programming to ensure high-quality treatment and support in the community during acute episodes, while still keeping patients in their homes.

• Therapists in primary care offices: Behavioral health care will be provided and based in primary care settings, allowing patients to conveniently access mental health services at their doctor’s office.
