No. 10 Louisville 62, Wichita State 52

Donovan Mitchell made two 3-pointers in the final 41/2 minutes and scored 14 points to help Louisville beat Wichita State for a spot in the Battle 4 Atlantis championship game. Quentin Snider also scored 14 points for the Cardinals (5-0). They will play Baylor for the title. Wichita State (5-1) shot just 32 percent for the game, while Louisville — which shot 37 percent — helped itself by making 17 of 23 free throws and taking a 46-33 rebounding advantage. Markis McDuffie and Shaquille Morris each scored 10 for the Shockers.

No. 20 Baylor 73, No. 24 Michigan State 58

Johnathan Motley scored 20 of his 26 points in the first half and Baylor beat Michigan State to reach the Battle 4 Atlantis championship game. Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. added 14 points and eight rebounds — nearly all in the second half — for the Bears (5-0). They sprinted out of the break with a 12-2 run and shot 55 percent in the second half. Freshman Miles Bridges had 15 points for the Spartans (3-3). They shot 39 percent in the second half, going 1 for 10 on 3-pointers.

Temple 89, No. 25 Florida State

Quinton Rose scored 26 points, including two free throws with 2 seconds left, in Temple’s victory over Florida State in the NIT Season Tip-Off at the Barclays Center. Shizz Alston Jr. added 22 points, and Obi Enechionyia had with 16 points and eight rebounds for the Owls (3-2). They will face West Virginia in the title game today. Dwayne Bacon led the Seminoles (5-1) with 22 points.

No. 19 West Virginia 89, Illinois 57

Nathan Adrian had 13 points and eight rebounds in West Virginia’s victory over Illinois in the NIT Season Tip-Off. Jevon Carter added 10 points, six rebounds, six steals and five assists for the Mountaineers (4-0). Esa Ahmad and Elijah Macon each had nine points, and Teyvon Myers and Daxter Miles Jr. added eight each. Michael Finke led Illinois (4-2) with 13 points, and Mike Thorne Jr. had 12.

No. 11 Gonzaga 82, Quinnipiac 62

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA.

Jonathan Williams and Zach Collins led a balanced offense with 13 points apiece, helping Gonzaga pull away from Quinnipiac in the first round of the AdvoCare Invitational at Disney World. The Bulldogs (5-0) also got 10 points each from Jordan Mathews and Josh Perkins to advance to the semifinals of the eight-team tournament against Florida or Seton Hall. Peter Kiss paced Quinnipiac (0-3) with 18.

No. 21 Iowa State 73, Indiana State 71

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA.

Monte Morris scored 20 points and Iowa State took the lead for good in the final minute in the opening game of the AdvoCare Invitational at Disney World. The Cyclones (4-0) will face Miami in the semifinals. Joe Thomas shrugged off a poor shooting performance to put Iowa State ahead with a 3-pointer with 54 seconds remaining. Nazareth Mitrou-Long made one of two free throws with 7.6 seconds left, and Indiana State’s hope for an upset ended when Brenton Scott’s 3-pointer rimmed out at the buzzer. Scott led Indiana State (2-2) with 20 points.

VCU 75, St. John’s 69

PARADISE ISLAND, BAHAMAS

Jonathan Williams scored 22 points and hit the go-ahead, driving layup with 3:59 left to help VCU hold off St. John’s 75-69 on Thursday night in Battle 4 Atlantis consolation bracket. JeQuan Lewis added 15 points for the Rams (4-1), including a driving score of his own to follow Williams’ basket. Then he and Mo Alie-Cox went 4 for 4 at the foul line in the last 13 seconds to help seal the win on a night when both teams blew double-digit leads. Alie-Cox also finished with 15 points for VCU, which shot 42 percent. Shamorie Ponds scored 18 points to lead the Red Storm (2-3).

Miami 67, Stanford 53

Ja’Quan Newton had 20 points and Anthony Lawrence added 18 as Miami beat Stanford in the opening round of the AdvoCare Invitational. Bruce Brown chipped in 10 points for the Hurricanes (4-0). Stanford (4-1) got 15 points from Dorian Pickens, while Reid Travis had 11. Pickens has scored in double figures in nine of his last 10 games, dating to last season. Brown had a couple layups during Miami’s 18-4 run over the final eight minutes. The Hurricanes shot 62.5 percent (15 for 24) in the second half.

Valparaiso 92, BYU 89

LAS VEGAS

Alec Peters had 26 points and 12 rebounds, Shane Hammink scored 23 points and Valparaiso beat BYU in the championship game of the MGM Grand Main Event’s heavyweight bracket. Hammink was fouled away from the basket with 52 seconds left and he hit two free throws for a 90-87 lead. But Eric Mika answered with an open shot under the basket to pull to 90-89. Valparaiso dribbled down the clock and Peters made a contested layup with one second left on the shot clock. BYU was off on a 3-pointer, but Max Joseph missed two free throws on the other end with 2.2 seconds left to give the Cougars (4-1) another chance. BYU advanced it past midcourt and after a timeout, Mika missed a corner 3-pointer. Tevonn Walker added 13 points for Valparaiso (5-1).

Nevada 82, Oakland 78

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA

Marcus Marshall scored 20 of his 25 points in the second half and Nevada rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to beat Oakland in the Great Alaska Shootout. Nevada (4-1) scored on its first four possessions of the second half — on two 3-pointers, a dunk and two free throws — to pull to 47-38. It was tied at 58 midway through the half after Lindsey Drew scored on two straight fast breaks. Cameron Oliver, who finished with 22 points, hit a corner 3-pointer to give Nevada its first lead of the game at 64-62.
