Divorce support group to meet

« Austintown Neighbors

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish will offer a DivorceCare support group beginning on Nov. 28 and extending for 12 consecutive weeks to those in the regional community who are going through or have gone through a recent separation or divorce. The classes will be offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Room 207, in the school building.

Divorce is a common experience in our culture, but no matter how common it is, those who experience it often feel blindsided, relieved, confused, hopeful, beat down, angry and devastated, among other negative feelings. It is a strange mix of emotions that occur, but it is normal.

DivorceCare is a comprehensive program for those experiencing, or who have experienced, separation and/or divorce. Participants will receive expert advice, opportunities to hear from others who are experiencing the same thing and materials to use at home to help them integrate what they learn into everyday life. DivorceCare addresses the emotional, physical, relational and spiritual aspects of divorce in a way that respects where you are on the divorce journey. Each session has two distinct elements: a video seminar with experts and a support group with focus.
