The fourth annual Boo thru the Woods event was hosted by Boardman Park on Oct. 16.

More than 2,000 people attended the annual event in their Halloween costumes to go Trick-or-Treating through the woods at Boardman Park. Twenty-six local businesses set up tables along the path in the woods to pass out candy and other treats to the children.

The event was free for participants. The only thing that people would pay for was food from the concessions. There were also other activities that guests could participate in during the Boo thru the Woods event. Pumpkins were available to carve for the Great Pumpkin Carve-Out contest. A bounce house and other family-friendly activities were also offered.

“This is a growing event. This is the biggest one we’ve had,” said Boardman Park recreation director Karen McCallum.

Boo thru the Woods is a weather-driven event and with the sunshine and warm weather, many people spent the day outside collecting treats and spending time together. Children and adults dressed up in a variety of costumes. There were animals, cartoon characters and several others.

Boardman Park hosts several Halloween events for families throughout the month of October. More information on the different activities at the park can be found at www.BoardmanPark.com.
