The Poland Junior Women’s Club hosted its annual Halloween Carnival on Oct. 29 at Poland McKinley Elementary School.
The carnival has been a recurring event for more than 10 years. The event is free, open to the community and organized by committee chair Stephanie Stebelton and the rest of the Poland Junior Women’s Club.
“It’s part of our mission at the Poland Junior Women’s Club to give back to the community,” said Stebelton.
The carnival brings in an average of 75-90 children each year. Students from Poland Seminary High School and MCCTC volunteer their time by helping out with the carnival. They help decorate the room, help the children with different games and anything else that needs to be done.
“It’s for the kids to come and have fun. They can play games, have treats, get a treat bag,” said Stebelton.
The fundraisers that the PJWC hosts throughout the year allows the group to put on free events, like the Halloween Carnival, for the community to attend and enjoy. The carnival has continued to expand each year it has been hosted.
Guests could come dressed up in their Halloween costumes to celebrate the holiday early.
There is normally a good turnout for the carnival, and with the nice weather, more people took the opportunity to get out of the house and participate in Halloween activities.
The next event the PJWC is hosting is the Lighting of the Village on Dec. 3 at Village Hall.
