The Mahoning Valley Railroad Association’s annual steam whistle blow event, scheduled to take place Saturday at the B&O Station, has been canceled due to a leak in a steam line.

Information published on page C3 of today’s Valley 24 section was printed before the cancellation.

Golf shop sale

YOUNGSTOWN

Mill Creek MetroParks golf course shop will host a Black Friday sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

Lanterman’s Mill will be the site of Olde Fashioned Christmas from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. The mill will be decorated, artisans will demonstrate old-fashioned crafts and handcrafted gifts will be available for purchase.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a new hat, scarf or pair of mittens to decorate a “Giving Tree.”

On Sunday, “Santa’s Winter Barn” will take place at the MetroParks Farm in Canfield from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Santa will make an appearance with some of his animal friends. The event is free, with a $1 fee for crafts. The barn is not heated.

Man faces charges

WARREN

Bond was set at $1 million for James A. Gardner, 48, of Iowa Avenue Northwest on Wednesday on one count of aggravated murder and two counts of felonious assault in the June 18 double homicide at Shorty’s Place, a Warren Township bar.

Atty. Mark Lavelle entered a not-guilty plea in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court for Gardner. Gardner, a member of the motorcycle group Forever Two Wheelz, is accused of shooting to death Jason C. Moore, 41, of Bristolville and wounding Andrew G. Claypool, 50, of Girard, and Walter M. Hughes, 41, of Warren, all members of the Brothers Regime motorcycle club.

Remembrance

POLAND

The old Poland Village Graveyard adjoining the Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Poland Manor, will be the site of a Wreaths of Remembrance Ceremony at 10 a.m. Dec. 3. The Poland Village Hine Fund Committee is sponsoring the event.

The ceremony will involve the placement of a pine wreath at the headstone of each of the veterans buried in the graveyard.

There are 14 veterans of the Revolutionary War, 13 from the War of 1812, and 10 Civil War veterans buried there. Veterans from the Poland American Legion Post and area scouts will participate.

Turkey dinner

STRUTHERS

The Struthers City Schools district will sponsor its annual turkey dinner for senior citizens from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 1 in the Struthers High School cafeteria. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.

The menu includes turkey and gravy over mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls and butter, and apple crisp for dessert. Coffee, tea, and water also will be provided.

The middle- and high-school show choirs will perform, and elementary school students will help serve food. The Struthers Board of Education is sponsoring the event to thank senior citizens for their support of the district.

The cost is $2 per person, payable at the door. Reservations are required by Monday by calling 330-750-1061, ext. 41215.

Fire in Liberty

Crews responded about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday to a fire at a home on the 4800 block of Sampson Drive. There were no reports of injuries.

The fire’s cause is under investigation.
