4-year-old girl found dead

TOLEDO

Authorities in Ohio say a 4-year-old girl found dead in a home had suffered several blunt-force injuries and showed signs of neglect and malnourishment.

Police in Toledo say 24-year-old Bridgett White has been charged with endangering children and is being held in jail after appearing in court Wednesday.

Police say White told them she grabbed the girl to punish her during a tantrum and then blacked out and couldn’t remember what happened because she was using drugs.

Officers on Tuesday found Aaliyah Smith dead inside White’s home. Court records don’t indicate whether White has her own attorney.

Cleveland police say they were at the home two days earlier for an overdose and were able to revive Dunaway.

Teen to be tried as adult

SPRINGFIELD

The case of a 16-year-old boy accused of killing his 14-year-old brother after an argument over Halloween candy is being moved from juvenile court to adult court.

The Springfield teen told police he repeatedly hit his sleeping brother in the head with a baseball bat, then stabbed him in the neck with a knife to stop the “noise” he was making after the beating, according to court records and investigators. Their grandmother found him dead in bed Oct. 31.

A prosecutor said the juvenile-court judge’s decision this week to move the case to adult court reflects the severity of the crime.

“When you bludgeon your little brother to death with a baseball bat and then stab him with a knife, at that point you need to be punished for it and the public needs to be protected from you,” Clark County Prosecutor Andy Wilson said.

Racist posters at Miami U

OXFORD

Administrators and students at Miami University have expressed concern after several white nationalist posters started appearing on the Oxford school’s campus as of late.

Miami spokeswoman Claire Wagner said the university is aware the offensive posters were hung inside academic buildings but it’s unclear who posted them.

One poster read: “Tired of Anti-White Propaganda in college? You aren’t alone.” It included a link to a racist and anti-Semitic website.

Graduate student Cat Munroe saw one poster near Miami’s Business, Engineering, Science and Technology Library last week. She says she wasn’t surprised given the climate surrounding this presidential election.

Authorities say the robber ran from the scene. The crime remains under investigation.
