Will ‘Turn’ be back?

Q. I have been unable to get any information regarding the return of the AMC series “Turn: Washington’s Spies.” I’m hoping that it will be back as it’s one of the very best series on TV.

A. The Revolutionary War drama will be back for a fourth and final season. Look for it in 2017. “I am so pleased to be able to bring the story of the Culper Ring to its epic conclusion, at the point where the Revolutionary War ends and the great American experiment truly begins,” showrunner Craig Silverstein said in a statement announcing the final run.

Q. Could you please tell me that we WILL be seeing more of “Little Big Shots” with Steve Harvey. I am a great-grandma who also has a granddaughter, her husband and two great- grandsons (a 7-year-old and an 8-month-old) living with me (as well as a friend from Central America) and this is one show that ALL of us can enjoy.

A. The showcase for talented youngsters has been picked up by NBC for a second run after a successful first go-round in early 2016. (NBC ordered a second season just two episodes into the first.) And the network has ordered a spin-off, “Little Big Shots: Forever Young,” featuring “young-at-heart seniors.” At this writing, neither show has a specific air date.

Q. Could you tell me why the actress who played Brenda Leigh Johnson on “The Closer” left the show? Will she return or will she be doing other TV shows?

A. Back in 2012, Kyra Sedgwick, who starred in the TNT drama, decided it was time to move on. As was reported at the time, she said, “I thought about it for about a year, and it finally came down to the fact that I really want to do other things, creatively. I’m an artist, and I want to express myself in other ways and other places.” The supporting cast kept going, of course, in what was renamed “Major Crimes,” with Mary McDonnell as the lead.

Since then, Sedgwick has kept busy acting, producing and directing. And she will be back on the small screen in 2017, as star of ABC’s “Ten Days in the Valley.” The Hollywood Reporter says she will play “an overworked television producer and single mother dealing with a fractious separation. When her young daughter goes missing in the middle of the night, Jane’s world – and her controversial police series – implodes.”
