YOUNGSTOWN

Nevels Temple Church, 939 Elm St., will have a toy giveaway from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Nov. 29 with items for infants and children up to age 17.

To take part in the giveaway, participants must bring valid identification and cannot be signed up at the Salvation Army. Additionally, proof of the following must be provided: family income, papers proving legal custodianship or guardianship, Social Security or medical cards for each child, or a printout from Job and Family Services showing all information.

Pa. college ranks high

Grove City College is ranked No. 2 in Christian Universities Online’s ranking of the “10 Best Christian Colleges and Universities in the North 2017.”

Christian Universities Online, a resource for students and families researching Christian higher education, focuses on schools that excel in personal attention to their students, selectivity, readily available financial aid and overall student satisfaction.

All qualifying schools in the northern U.S. were considered based on publicly available data such as faculty-to-student ratio, percentage of full-time beginning undergraduates that receive financial aid and overall graduation rate.

Foods orders available

NILES

New Hope UM Church, 21 Fairview Ave., is accepting orders for King Foods with cash, check, money order, or EBT card from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 5. Orders also will be taken at Niles Community Services from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Dec. 5. Box prices range from $25 to $45. There are no income restrictions or guidelines.

Mail orders will be accepted with payment by Dec. 2. Send payment to New Hope UM Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Niles 44446, made out to New Hope UM Church. Collecting for needy

LIBERTY

Liberty Township Police Department is collecting nonperishable food items, personal care products, and cash donations for needy individuals and families. All proceeds will be distributed by Second Harvest Food Bank. The event takes place at Giant Eagle Churchill Commons, 4700 Belmont Ave.

Dough for Dollars

BROOKFIELD

Brookfield Middle School students are selling Pizza Hut Dough for Dollars cards for $10 a piece, which include 16 peel-off coupons valid for dine-in or carry out. Cards can be used at all Pizza Hut locations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The peel-off card includes coupons for a free medium, one-topping pizza, a chocolate chip cookie, an order of wings and an order of fried apple pies; all available with the purchase of a large pizza at regular price. There also is a coupon for a buy one, get one free flavor buffet. Dough for Dollars cards can be purchased at the middle school, 614 Bedford Road. All proceeds raised will help fund BMS field trips and positive behavior incentives.

Boil alert lifted

WARREN

The boil advisory issued on Thursday for Trumbull County water customers on several streets in Warren Township was lifted at 11:20 a.m. Saturday. The streets involved included Burnett Road, Diehl South Road, Fisher Street, Riverside Drive, Manhattan Avenue, Ritter Road, Woodview Circle and Park Road. School heart campaign

COLUMBIANA

Crestview Middle School is participating in a heart healthy awareness campaign in the middle school gym Tuesday morning in support of the American Heart Association.

Students will learn about the importance of living a heart-healthy lifestyle and being physically active. Each student will also have the opportunity to participate in a heart chase event to get their hearts pumping. Students have paid $5 each to participate on a team of four and will compete by grade level in a variety of timed challenges. An assembly will take place at the end of the day where students will receive prizes.

Cop shoots at hit & run

VIENNA

A Vienna police officer shot at a hit-and-run suspect’s car after nearly being run over by the car.

The Trumbull County 911 Center reported that the hit-and-run accident happened Friday in Howland on state Route 46. The unidentified Vienna police officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle, but when he tried to stop it, he said, the driver tried to him over and he fired at the car, causing it to crash into a ditch off Warren-Sharon Road east of state Route 193.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident.
