National Council of Negro Women hosts state meeting

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Youngstown Section of the National Council of Negro Women Inc. hosted an Ohio State Coalition meeting Oct. 29 at the Youngstown YWCA for its bi-annual meeting and luncheon with 73 members of sections throughout Ohio attending. Committee members who prepared for the event were Felicia Alexander, Sandy Britt, Karen Jackson-Cook, Darla Dunlap, Shelley English, Kristy Gore, Laura Gore, Angela Pickett and Yvonne Wilson. Mayor John McNally welcomed the coalition to the city by presenting keys of the city to Bettye Brock, the Southern Ohio representative, and Janice Taylor, the Northern Ohio representative. Mary McLeod Bethune founded the organization in 1935. NCNW has a core of volunteers in 34 states. The Youngstown Section was founded in 1976 and is celebrating its 40th year.
