Grant to aid Liberty street paving in 2017
Staff report
LIBERTY
The township is looking to pave four more streets in 2017, thanks to an Ohio Public Works Commission grant.
Trustees voted this week to authorize the township to apply for participation in the Local Transportation Improvement Program.
The township would pay $209,070 of the project’s estimated $342,748 cost to resurface Liberty Street, Parkwood Avenue, Upper Euclid Avenue and Arms Drive.
In other business, trustees voted this month to approve a zoning change for 55 acres along Tibbetts-Wick Road. The zoning change will enable construction of a facility for the elderly by Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Services.
The project, which will break ground in summer 2017, is expected to cost between $26 million and $31 million.
The complex will include between 50 and 80 assisted living units, a 79-bed nursing home, a rehabilitation facility, a wellness facility and a facility for those living with Alzheimer’s disease.
It will create 200 local jobs, according to a township news release.
Shepherd of the Valley also has locations in Boardman, Howland, Poland and Niles.
