SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Cardinal Mooney and Ursuline high schools hosted a benefit centered around their annual rivalry football game which took place on Oct. 21. Both schools announced that their principals, Mark Vollmer of Mooney and Matt Sammartino of Ursuline, were “arrested” and held on bail the week of the rival game. Students, friends and families of the schools were encouraged to pledge donations to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley in order to “free” their principal first by raising the most money before kickoff. The schools raised more than $4,100 together with Mooney winning the fundraising competition and the football game.
