UNITY TOWNSHIP

Trevor Walker, 18, of East Palestine, was killed when the vehicle he was driving south on Waterford Road went off the road south of Hisey Road shortly after midnight Sunday.

Two juvenile passengers in the vehicle were transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, one by air and the other by ambulance. A spokesman for the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lisbon Post reported they were in stable condition Sunday.

The crash is under investigation.

South Side stabbing

YOUNGSTOWN

A Youngstown man, Joshua West, was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital early Sunday after being stabbed multiple times by his brother, Caleb West, who was arrested and charged with felonious assault, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

According to the police report, the stabbing occurred in the 3600 block of Southern Boulevard in a second-story apartment where Joshua was found with several stab wounds about 4:20 a.m.

Police said it took several minutes to find the address, which was at the rear of the apartment building. Authorities reportedly said the victim was in stable condition Sunday.

Hair, Nail-a-thon

Seniors in the cosmetology program at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, will host their annual Hair and Nail-a-thon from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday.

Salon services available for the fundraiser include haircuts, blow drying, styling, waxing and manicures all for $10. All proceeds raised will go toward the senior class trip to Columbus to take their state board exams.

Open house set

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. will have an open house at its newest facility, located at 45 Oneta St., at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The location is a 1.5-acre property donated by a previous owner that YNDC began improving in the summer of 2015. It is now a multipurpose facility that includes two buildings and serves as the center for YNDC’s vacant home boarding and construction activities.
